For the 35th anniversary of PIAS in 2018, the Belgian record label PIAS
is given a new visual identity. The idea of sound and recording sound, loud vs.
quiet, the early years of PIAS and the idea
of spreading music are key elements
in developing a contemporary identity. MUSIC FIRST is the base line of PIAS.
The recording of sound in perfect
conditions is the core business of a record studio. Music first, and therefore,
silence is key. The duality between loud and quiet is reflected in the design through
contrast in color use, typography and graphic elements.
The graphic elements
are based on diagrams that are
used for measuring sound.
